SPORT
Because we recognise the significance of sport and physical activity in improving general health and wellbeing, we are committed to encouraging all students, regardless of their ability, to participate in sport throughout their academic journey at our College.
SMCOC provides students with two pathways to access sport:
- Inter-House Sport
- Inter-School Sport - School Sport Victoria (SSV)
Inter-House Sport
All SMCOC’s students are allocated to a House, in which they remain throughout their journey at the College. When they engage in any of the Inter-House competitions throughout the year, they represent their House.
We hold Inter-House competitions in swimming, Athletics and Cross Country. These events are open to students of all abilities. Our Physical Education (PE) Staff encourage students to participate and have fun in a safe and inclusive environment.
Inter-School Sport - School Sport Victoria (SSV)
The main sporting competition the College competes in is School Sport Victoria in the Northern Metropolitan Region in the Woodland Division, where over 150 – 200 students each year represent our College. Our main educational intent is to provide the opportunity to our students to developing leadership, resilience and character. Having said so, we also enthusiastically pursue, and celebrate, success.
Each year we enter sports teams in the following:
Soccer (Boys) Soccer (Girls) Baseball (Boys), Baseball (Girls), Badminton (Boys), Badminton (Girls), Table Tennis (Boys), Table Tennis (Girls), Athletics (Boys), Athletics (Girls), Swimming (Boys), Swimming (Girls), Cross Country (Boys), Cross Country (Girls).
