PRIMARY SCHOOL

Our Primary teachers are committed to providing engaging learning opportunities and activities in order to maximise students’ outcomes, as well as wellbeing, aiming for excellence to glorify the Lord.

Accordingly, the Primary School offers a multi-faceted learning journey, with a structured curriculum, that is developed and delivered in a safe and supportive environment. We employ an Inquiry model of learning across all the Key Learning Areas of Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, the Arts, Health and Physical Education and Languages Other Than English (LOTE).

In addition, the Primary School program aims to nurture the social, emotional and physical development of our students. This is facilitated by activities and programs both inside the classroom and outside. This way, students in the Primary School can be empowered to grow into responsible citizens in a globalised world.

Because our students are unique individuals, who have special talents and abilities, we focus on offering differentiated activities and experiences, through which we can meet their needs and each individual student can reach their potential.

Learning Strategies

The Primary School Program focuses on creating a learning environment that:

  • Encourages and reinforces students’ responsibility towards their own safety and the safety of their peers,
  • Ensures students’ active participation in Chapels,
  • Empowers students to build a positive sense of identity as Christians,
  • Who glorify the Lord in all they do and utilise all resources God gave them in a manner that honours God,
  • Facilitates inquiry of knowledge and application of skills,
  • Attends to individual needs, as well as collective needs of learners in all year levels,
  • Attends to Australian needs and interests, as well as facilitating acquisition of international requirements and challenges to live in this day and age,
  • Inspires students to grow into self-autonomous learners,
  • Supports the learning of students with learning needs,
  • Provides support and multiple programs to maximise improvement of EAL students,
  • Focuses on literacy and numeracy skills to empower students to develop a strong foundation before they move to upper primary years and secondary years,
  • Fosters creative thinking and creativity in Music, Performing Arts and Visual Arts,
  • Promotes health and active life style and fitness through the Physical Education Program and included activities, such as swimming and sports programs and carnivals, and
  • complements learning in classroom with incursions, excursions and camps.
