We have FIVE Science Labs in the Secondary School.
Practical and experimental science skills are a key part of the Science curriculum. At SMCOC, we prioritise the development of these skills, keenly utilising our fully equipped science labs.
Our Junior labs, C12 and A11, provide facilities for developing a clear understanding of the physical world and insightful scientific observations. The Labs are regularly used for dissections, improving microscope techniques, experimenting with forces, carrying out chemical reactions and the measurement of substances. The specimens and models on display encourage a fascination of the sciences!
Our specialised Physics Lab, D12, is an excellent space for experimenting with motion, acceleration and energy changes. This Lab is a modern science lab designed for students wanting to upgrade and advance their Physics skills.
Our specialised Biology Lab, D11, has all the requirements for developing the skills of a future scientist; it has everything needed for dissections, microscopic investigations, an incubator for growing microbes in petri dishes as well as the ability to investigate other key areas of the curriculum.
Our specialised Chemistry Laboratory, A6, has all chemical and material needs for investigating chemical reactions, titration experiments, distillations, building models of molecules and measuring reaction rates.
Our Science labs are exciting learning spaces that promote the practical nature of science. What students learn there today could one day help them change the world for the better. Go Science!
